Known As:  Poinsietta
Latin Name:  Euphorbia pulcherrima
Description: Member of the spurge family.  Grows from 6 to 36 inches tall and is a favorite potted plant in the Christmas season.  Large, red flower bracts with small yellow flowers in the centre.
Poisonous Parts:  All parts. Low toxicty -- already removed from a lot of poisonous plant lists.
Symptoms: Rash or blistering after contact with the skin or mouth. Throat irritation. Drooling, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal cramps, swelling around the mouth, difficulty breathing.
Treatment: Wash sap off and prevent further ingestion.  Call a veterinarian if the eyes are affected, or if signs do not
resolve in a few minutes.
