Known as: Bird of Paradise
Latin Name: Strelitzia reginae
Description: Grows up to 1 meter in height and have large, angular
flowers and large, long, wide leaves. The seesa have a tuft of orage
hair attached to them.
Poisonous Parts: Seeds and pods.
Symptoms: Irritation of the mouth immediately after chewing
the plant. Vomiting, drooling, abdominal pain, cramps, diarrhea,
swelling around the mouth, difficulty in breathing. May cause tremors,
heart and respiratory and/or kidney problems which are difficult for an
owner to detect.
Treatment: Unless your cat is unconscious or having convulsions,
induce vomiting and delay
absoprtion. Get immediate veterinary assistance.
