Known as:  Bluebonnet, Texas Bluebonnet, Texas Blue Lupine
Latin Name:  Lupinus texensis
Description: State flower of Texas.  Has olive green foliage with deep blue flower spikes tinged with white.  Plant grows to 15-24 inches in height and has leaves composed of 5 leaflets with pointed tips joined at 1 point on a lone stem.  The flowers are densely clustered on the upper 2-6 inches of the stem.
Poisonous Parts:  Leaves and especially the seeds.  Involved alkaloid toxins such as quinolizidine and piperidine.
