Known As: Clematis, Traveller's Joy, Virgin's Bower
Latin Name: Clematis spp.
Description: A leafy perennial deciduous or evergreen vine growing
to about 3 feet high. Many variations and colors. Flowers are
starlike or bell-shaped with 4-8 petals. Seed pods have a long silky
coating to them.
Poisonous Parts: Leaves, flowers. Major toxicity can cause
damage to liver, heart and kidneys.
Symptoms: Varied toxic effects of the gastrointestinal tract
and the nervous system. Sap can cause a skin rash or irritation or
large blisters.
