Latin Name: Solanum pseudocapsicum
Description:
Poisonous Parts: Immature growths. Involves solanine
glycoalkaloids and possibly toxic levels of nitrates. Can cause
cyanide poisoning.
Symptoms: Vomiting, drooling, abdominal pain, cramps, diarrhea,
swelling around the mouth, difficulty breathing. May cause tremors,
heart and respiratory and/or kidney problems which are difficult for an
owner to detect. Can also cause dermatitis.
Treatment: Unless your cat is unconscious or having convulsions,
induce vomiting. Get immediate veterinary
assistance.
